The Hard Rock Casino In Rockford, Illinois, has set its grand opening date to August 29th, 2024. Hard Rock will smash a guitar to celebrate the event and officially open its doors at approximately 3 p.m.
Currently, the casino operates temporarily with 635 slot machines, table games, and two restaurants. The new location will host 64k square feet of gaming space, several more dining options, and an entertainment venue. The new property is also expected to bring in more than 1,000 jobs.
Jon Lucas, Chief Operating Officer At Hard Rock International, thanked the community and the state for welcoming Hard Rock. Lucas went on to say that the new facility will heighten the community’s entertainment options. Hard Rock International currently has over 300 properties worldwide and is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
Geno Iafrate, President of Hard Rock Casino Rockford, said that this casino has been 30 years in the making, and the wait is finally over. Iafrate went on to praise current employees who have helped make the temporary location a success. He also reiterated that the new entertainment venue will accommodate 2,000 guests for concerts and events.

Currently, 15 brick-and-mortar casino locations in Illinois feature blackjack, roulette, video poker, slots, and other classic casino games. The state does not authorize or regulate online casino gambling, but no laws forbid outside sources from accepting IL players.

Iafrate expressed interest in the site becoming a culinary school, but nothing will be decided until after the new casino opens. Now that the opening date is set, the coming months should tell us what will happen to the “Giovanni” location.
